It is November 26. There are 34 days left in 2008 – that is 9.3% of the year. But once Thanksgiving arrives, some people act as if the year is over.
You know, there is the shopping, the parties, the events. There are the vacation days that remain, and those days off – Black Friday, Christmas – and if you don’t get them off, how much work gets done on Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve?
If that is your focus, not much will get done.
And many won’t.
But there are still 34 days left in the year. That means there is ample time for you to:
– reach the goals you set for the year
– stand out from your competitors because you are still hustling during this season.
– set yourself up for a fabulous 2009
and lots more.
And the good news is that these are things that most others won’t get done.
While all of this applies to all of us, as leaders it applies even more.
The end of the year is the perfect time to exert your leadership influence. You can share this idea with your team, and create an expectation and urgency around finishing the year strong. You can help your team create different habits that will create better results!
It is a great time for coaching and mentoring – use the last few weeks of the year to focus on the development of your team and on your own leadership development as well.
Team leadership is crucial at this time of the year. Through your example you can help your team finish the year strong, and create amazing momentum for the New Year
