You know that if you take a tough skill and make part of it habit, your success will improve. Such is the case with leadership. Build strong leader habits, and you will become a stronger and more successful leader. The question is – what are the habits and how do you build them?
Martin Lanik’s new book, The Leader Habit, answers both of those questions. His extensive research identified 22 skills of highly successful leaders. The book describes the 22, but more importantly, he breaks them down into learnable behaviors. Once you have a learnable behavior identified, you have a much better chance of creating real change.
If that weren’t enough, the book further outlines five-minute exercises designed to help you practice the identified skills. Martin and I agree that leadership is skill-based and can be learned. This book helps leaders at any skill and experience level practice leader habits to become the leader they are capable of becoming.
I strongly recommend this book. The ideas are solid, the practice exercises are outstanding, and the author is highly knowledgeable and engaging. I had the chance to read an early copy of the book in preparation for my conversation with Martin for The Remarkable Leadership Podcast. Our conversation is now available wherever you listen to podcasts or here . I encourage you to order your copy of the book, then take a listen to our conversation. If you do, I guarantee you will be waiting at the mailbox for the book to arrive.
