The disaster happened in Haiti one full month ago. It is hard to believe. Just a few days after the tragedy, I challenged us all as leaders and humans to take action – not only to help, but as a leadership development exercise. (Take a read).
Then a few days later, I offered a deal to everyone who is a reader – that I would donate the proceeds from my new book #LEADERSHIPTweet to the Haitian Relief efforts of The American Red Cross – and I wrote a check for $580 from those purchases.
As Ithink about how much coverage the tragedy got in the first few days, and how much less it is in our minds now, I’m not suprised, but I am saddened, as I know the efforts of relief and rebuilding will go on for a long time and the focus of the rest of the world will move away quickly – as a world community we have a short attention span.
As leaders we must keep our eye beyond the short term, and for that reason, I am led to make my offer again. Buy a copy of #LEADERSHIPTweet before the end of February and I will again, give the proceeds to help in Haiti. The difference this time is that I will pick a charity from those suggested by you through comments below.
I am doing this because it is important to me and the people on my team and in my family. And I am doing it to re-energize you to take action, to make a difference, and to be a leader.
