This blog is about Leadership and Learning. While I believe most posts relate to both, today’s is less about leadership and more about personal learning. Thinking about things from a personal perspective seems especially relevant at this time of the year.
I spent a little time looking for the right quotation, but instead was inspired to do something different this week. Indulge me as this week’s quotation is from me.
“Memories are a treasure that can’t be taken from us. Create them regularly, purposefully, and passionately.”
Questions to Ponder
- How can I purposefully create some memories today?
- What memory-making opportunities await me in the coming days?
- How will I capitalize on them?
Action Steps
- Review or re-play past positive memories relating to this holiday season.
- Share them with others.
- Revel in them.
- Decide to add to your memory treasury today.
People have different experiences related to the holidays. While it isn’t my experience, I know that many find this time of year difficult. These words aren’t meant to deny that fact, but perhaps to help provide a re-focus. Negative or destructive memories are a topic for another day.
I distinctly remember a walk by myself after my college commencement exercise. My most prevalent thought was that the diploma I had in my hands, and what it represented, could never be taken away from me — it was mine!
That sentiment was accurate, and the memory of that moment is just like the diploma — completely mine.
When we accurately realize that our memories are a treasure, then we can be proactive about adding to that treasure. This is true at any time of the year, but never more than during the holidays.
I wish you a wonderful season, filled with memories that last you a lifetime.
Merry Christmas from me and the entire team at the Kevin Eikenberry Group.
