Habits can help us do things on auto-pilot; and that is helpful, as long as they are helpful or valuable things. Unfortunately, sometimes they are not so helpful. And valuable or not, they are hard to break.
When we become leaders, we start to build the habits of how we will lead pretty quickly; and too often, the habits that get built are based on bad past experience, doing things without knowing what do to (simply to survive the onslaught of new work demands), and without any guidance or training.
This scenario, played out in organizations every day, leads to bad leadership habits.
Because of this, and in part because of all the work we do with new leaders, I’ve created this webinar to help people see what some of those potentially crippling habits often are; to take heart that they are not alone, but then to help people break those habits and replace them with habits more valuable and helpful to their ongoing growth and success as a leader.
Specifically, I’ll share (and you will learn):
- The top bad habits that threaten any leader’s success and how to avoid them
- Tactics new supervisors can use to seamlessly transition from peer to boss.
- Which skills new managers need to learn early in order to be successful in a leadership role.
- Three ways to help change habits, once they have formed
Yes, we will talk about the habits you already have created, and what might be a better option, and yes, we will talk about practical advice for breaking the ones you wish to. But we will also help you prevent a few too – ones that might creep in and damage your ability to lead effectively.
There is plenty I could share with you, but you have leading to do! That’s why this webinar is 60 idea-packed minutes long; so you can gain some insights, put some tools in your toolkit, and get back to leading – but more effectively than ever before.
Join me at 1:30 pm ET on August 23. All the details and registration information can be found here. I hope you to “see” you there.
