This week’s Resource Recommendation is How to Click With People: The Secret to Better Relationships in Business and in Life by Rick Kirschner.

I get lots of books in the mail because people want me to review them in this space. I received an advance proof of this book a few weeks ago and I was intrigued by the title. In my work as a trainer, consultant and speaker, when I can “click” with people I will be more successful. The subtitle of the book promises “Building the Personal Side of Business” and I have long talked about business as being a relationship business.

Overall, I felt good when I picked up the book. Then I read the back cover which touts the book as “How to Win Friends and Influence People  for the twenty-first century” and I wondered if that was marketing hype, or not. After all, that is both a classic book and one of my favorites.

I can now say that my initial attraction to the title of the book was well warranted. The book is laid out in a logical format. The first half of the book is focused on helping people get you and the second half shares how to help people get your ideas.

This book is practical, easy to read and while it includes some obvious chapters like one on listening, it also has a chapter on clicking at a distance – over phone email and social networking.

This book covers important ground in a very useful and accessible way. While it may not be How to Win Friends and Influence People, it deserves a space on your reading list and shelf.

The best news of all is that starting tomorrow (July 12th) you can receive special bonuses when you purchase a copy of the book.  Learn more about this special promotion and all of the goodies you can download by going to the book’s site.
