Dr. Norman Vincent Peale had this to say about worry.
“If you can worry, you can visualize success.”
So let me ask you this . . .
Do you ever worry?
Assuming your answer is yes, since 99.44% of people worry. (Ok, so that is actually the that the purported purity of Ivory Soap – but we know intuitively that basically everyone worries – at least sometimes.)
Now let me ask you this . . .
Do you ever visualize success?
I don’t know what your answer is, but my personal experience in asking people this question is that most don’t, and some tell me they can’t. To which I would replay with Dr. Peale’s sage words.
Worry is visualization of something you don’t want to happen.
Will what you visualize automatically come true?
No.
Are your odds better if you visualize success, rather than failure (e.g. worry?).
Even the most cynical pessimistic person would have to admit that everything else being equal, visualizing success at a minimum couldn’t hurt.
So the next time you notice yourself worrying, take it as a sign that you could be visualizing success. And switch your mental picture right then.
It will improve your future (if even improving the odds just a smidge). And it will definitely improve your focus, thinking and attitude right now.
So one more question . . .
What do you see in your future tomorrow?
Great food for thought and encouragement! Thanks for the positive perspective!
99 44/100% is actually how “pure” Ivory soap is… 🙂
Exactly… Im going to fix it! 🙂 THANKS! Dove was 1/4 moisturizing cream!
Kevin 🙂
Really enjoy your writings Kevin, and thanks for these inspirational thoughts. On today’s topic I would add “don’t worry, be happy” :)… The worst thing that can happen is to worry and do nothing. just being worried will not create solutions to any of your problems/issues. People sometimes tend to do exactly that, worry and do nothing. So, “don’t worry, be happy”, or worry and get something done :).
Thanks,
Jovi
