Courage consists in equality to the problem before us.

– Ralph Waldo Emerson

Questions to Ponder

What problems in my life have required the most courage?

How courageous do I feel today?

Action Steps

  1. Consider your toughest current problem.
  2. Consider how choosing to be more courageous might help you solve the problem or make critical decisions.
  3. As needed, choose courage!

My Thoughts

I’m guessing you don’t immediately think about courage when thinking about problem solving.  Emerson, however, was a smart guy, and this quote is just one of many that prove it.

As individuals and leaders we need to hone our problem solving skills and that requires, as Emerson urges, that we think about more than techniques and tools.  As a leader especially, there may be a need for courage.

Are you willing to be courageous?  If not, what is in your way?

As a leader, it is your responsibility and opportunity to put courage in your problem solving.

Will you?
