Edgy-BCYou know this book is different (OK, the author would say edgy) when you open the cover and instead of seeing testimonials from famous or influential people, you see this:

This is where you would normally find opinions and quotes from a bunch of people who say they read the book and liked it. But really, the only opinion that matters is yours. SO READ THE BOOK AND SEE WHAT YOU THINK.

Next, the prologue is perhaps the most compelling one I’ve ever read – I won’t give it away – but it definitely gets you into the book.

Skim the book and you will find both black and red type. The red type alone – consisting of stories of people who have lived the principles the author is writing about – is worth the book. I’ve read lots of inspirational books over the years and several of these great stories I have never heard before.

The book is built to help you build extraordinary success. This isn’t the first book written to do that, but the book lives up to its “edgy” title in two ways:

  • It is written in a very direct and engaging way
  • It shares different and more actionable principles than most of its brethren.

What are those principles? The book is built around these four ideas:

Extreme Behavior – doing things others won’t do, or even seem “irrational”
Disciplined Activity – taking discipline to a new level of effort and importance
Giving Mindset – the importance of selflessness
Y(h)uman strategy – focus on what really matters most

Each principle is well described and supplemented by the stories I mentioned above. Additionally, the book is compelling because the author talks passionately about the second two principles – as he had mastered the first two earlier in life and still didn’t really have the life and true success he wanted.

Not only did I love the book, I’m excited to announce that the author, Dan Waldschmidt, is taking those principles and applying them to us as leaders in a teleseminar on June 23. This session, custom-built in collaboration with us, will give you a chance to “get edgy” and get better results as a leader and in your role of leading others. You can get all of the details and register here.

And you can learn more about the book and get a copy here.
