This week’s Resource Recommendation: Good Boss, Bad Boss: How to Be the Best and Learn From the Worst by Robert Sutton.
This is a brand new book. (It actually publishes on Sept 7, but it’s available now.)
I was lucky enough to get an uncorrected proof copy to read. And when I say lucky, I mean it.
The title clearly gives you the premise of the book, but while the title may hint to it’s usefulness, it doesn’t suggest how enjoyable it is.
If you are interested in the title I dare you to pick it up, turn to a random page and be able to stop reading sooner than 4-5 pages.
To me this book is like a Lay’s potato chip, I couldn’t read just one page.
The book was written as a follow-up and partial answer to Sutton’s last smash bestseller The No Asshole Rule. Written in the same style of practical, commonsense ideas, backed by great stories and powerful research it is hard to beat.
If you are or want to become a boss, you need to read this book. If you have a great boss, thank him/her and buy him/her a copy. If you have a not-so-great boss, this book even offers some suggestions to help you do something about that.
This is a very good book on an important topic. Buy your copy now and be at the front of the curve. I predict it will be among the most talked about business books of the fall season.
