Our world moves quickly, and innovation and innovative leadership is all around us, if we just take time to notice.

I noticed something today – early enough that we can all watch.

Unless you are living under a rock, you’ve heard of Twitter.  (if you are on Twitter and not following me please do and I’ll return the favor!)  And you may know that a few television shows have started posting or somehow using Twitter on their shows in one way or another.  All of these are exercises in innovation.

But what I read this morning takes this Twitter innovation/integration to a new level.  ABC’s Nightline is introducing a new weekly online news program that uses Twitter for debate and questions.  It is called NightTline and the first episode will be Wednesday night/Thursday morning at 12:30 am ET.  Here is a link to a longer story on Mashable.

Time will tell how this innovation works, but great leaders know that they must allow for and lead the way in trying new things.

This gives us all a great opportunity to watch innovation in action.  Put yourself in the role of ABC leadership, and ask youself these questions.

Would you have authorized/endorsed/come up with this idea?
Would your team leadership style allow people to be comfortable in bringing this idea to the table?
How would you react if the result isn’t positive?

Consider your reflection on these questions a personal strudy on strategic leadership, and we can all watch the reaction the world has to this innovation.
