While I haven’t said too much about the launch of my new book From Bud to Boss – Secrets to a Successful Transition to Remarkable Leadership(co-authored with my friend and colleague Guy Harris) on this blog, it doesn’t mean we aren’t excited about it, or that we aren’t busy. The truth is we have been remarkably busy – our entire team is preparing for a spectacular day next Tuesday, February 15.
While you can order copies of the book today, if you wait just a few more days . . . you will have the opportunity to have access to a bunch of great bonuses – just for buying what was called earlier this week “the most important business book of 2011”.
We’ll announce all the great stuff and festivities next week, but for now, if you want to learn more about the book, here are two resources. . . first, the video promo for the book.
And second. a link to the blog where we are making daily announcements and more about the book, the launch. all of our great friends and partners, and more. Check it out here.
Hi Kevin,

Hi Kevin,
Congratulations on the book! I enjoyed reading a couple of excerpts in the media room and love what Becky is doing to #buildthebuzz. When I became a new manager, I was completely clueless; reading a book like From Bud To Boss and joining the online community would have been very helpful. But there is one thing I can’t get out of my head: If I was browsing through the bookstore, the book cover with the baseball cap and tie would totally ‘turn me off’. I get the Bud/Boss title, but I really don’t get the cover picture. If you saw a pink business book with images of women in flower dresses (…), you would assume it was written specifically for women, right?
What was the idea behind your book cover or was this an oversight?
Anna – Thanks for your kind words and for your question. Let me give you an answer to your question.
Our publisher sent us a draft cover, that looks almost identical to the final cover. We looked at it, shared with with a number of people, many women, of different ages and experiences. I asked some if they thought the tie and cap were too masculine. All said they thought it was fine. Then I consulted with our editor, a well known and highly regarded editor who is female. I told her we thought the pictures captured the story – that often when we change roles our accepted dress changes too – of Bud to Boss, but wondered if she and the imprint felt the image might raise a gender concern. They said they didn’t see it as a significant issue.
At that point, we trusted their collective marketing and publishing judgment and approved the cover design.
I hope that helps – and – I hope that the concern doesn’t override the value you and many others – female or mae – find in the book.
Thanks again!
Kevin 🙂
Thanks for elaborating – I appreciate it. 🙂
Anna – It is my pleasure!
