During a great sales and marketing conference last weekend – hosted by the wicked smart and always entertaining Dan Kennedy and Bill Glazer – I attended a session given by a woman named Ali Brown.

Ali is someone I admire and learn from regularly, but on Friday afternoon she said something that has stuck with me ever since:

“God can’t talk to you if you’re always checking your email.”

I was struck by the simplicity of the message.

If my head is always buried in my email, I can’t possibly see and hear and feel all that’s going on around me. It’s also so much harder to feel my gut reaction to things and to see the signs being laid out for me and to hear that voice that I used to hear so much more.

Looking to develop your leadership skills or just want to hear God a little more?

Step away from your computer screen … and tune in to the messages being delivered all around you.
