This weeks Resource Recommendation is The Leader Who Had No Title: A Modern Fable on Real Success in Business and Life By Robin Sharma.
Beyond the subject matter, two criteria I use when selecting a book are the title and the author. The title tells much about the specifics of the book and the wisdom of the author. Sometimes, of course, a book doesn’t deliver on the promise of the title. That is where the author comes in. Do I know something about this author? Have I read other works by them? Have I heard good things about them?
With these two criteria in mind, this book was a winner before I opened the cover. The title – The Leader Who Had No Title – is one I wish I had thought of and a book I had written. I have said to thousands of people that leadership isn’t a position or a title, but rather an action. Coupling the title with well-respected, best-selling author Robin Sharma, this book seemed like a slam dunk.
Written as a parable, the book’s information is easily accessible, and it delivers on the title’s promise. While the storyline in most books in the genre is ultimately predictable, Robin does an excellent job of not only providing great content, but writing it in a way that is enjoyable as well.
I found myself nodding in agreement throughout this book – the mindset and ideas are very closely aligned with my own. Given that fact, it is easy to see why I appreciated and enjoyed this book. Perhaps there will be big “aha” moments for you – if so this book will be of great value to you, as were the ideas to the protagonist of the story.
Even if, like me, you find this book more about sublime reminders and fresh language than new insights, you will still find it a great read – and you might want to buy copies for others around you.
I recommend this to leaders, to those who want to lead and truly to any person who wants to create more success and significance in their lives.
