When are you going to learn?”

If you are like me this question could be a echo of something you heard from your parents, who asked it with some justified degree of frustration, probably wondering when you were going to figure something out. (After you have messed something up several times!)

“When are you going to learn?”

Or perhaps you hear yourself today, or in the more recent past, pleading with yourself to stop making the same mistake or getting the same, less-than-perfect result.

“When are you going to learn?”

Or perhaps you have thought about, or asked your own children (or your employees) the same question.

I want encourage you to ask the question again, in a less negative, less cynical, less critical way.

When are you going to learn?”

The question, when asked in the best possible way, is perhaps the most proactive, responsible question you can ask.

You are an achiever, or you wouldn’t be reading these words.  I know that at some level you want to be a more effective leader, follower and human being.  Deep down you yearn to be more, do more, and to reach closer to your potential.

And, whether vaguely or with razor-sharpness, you know what you need to get better at, and what you need to learn.

So when are you going to learn it?   What less-than-necessary things will you take off your to-do list so you can work on the most important things?

Challenge yourself.   When are you going to learn?

Answer that question.

Take that action.

The your family, your team, your community and your world needs your best self.

You are worth it.

So, when are you going to learn?
