I. Love. Auctions.

And I love pretty much any type of auction. But my favorite is hands-down an antique tractor auction. (Yep, they exist.)

And while if you like auctions, this video might be even more interesting to you. But regardless, I’m sharing the lessons that I learned from a recent tractor auction – and these apply to ANY leader, auction lover or not.

Tweet it out: There are leadership and life lessons to be found at an auction – go to watch and learn – even if you don’t buy anything. @KevinEikenberry

  1. Kevin,

I love your reference to antique tractor auctions – and the leadership lessons! Doing your homework, focusing on the task at hand, and defining winning are all important practices for success.

I have attended more auctions with farm equipment for sale than auctions without such. Two of my uncles who farmed together owned more antique tractors they had bought at auction than tractors for functional farm use.

What is your favorite tractor color? My brother’s is red; my brother-in-law’s is green; my husband’s family has red, green, and blue.

Your collection of antique toy farm equipment must be very interesting.

Kevin, thank you for sharing your leadership insights in diverse ways that help us increase our leadership capacity to serve those around us!

  2. I love farm auctions (in ND and across the nation) too! Thank you for making helpful leadership connections to this community event. I enjoyed this podcast/video a lot; and the connection to my rural roots make it particularly memorable – since my mom passed away just a few weeks ago.

    Thank you Kevin.
