The art of great questionsYou ask questions every day. You know that when you ask the right questions, you can get better results for yourself. You also know that the best leaders are great question askers. Yet, you’ve likely never studied asking questions. You can change that today, with this great book.

Warren Berger calls himself a questionologist, or one who studies questions. If you read this book, you will be glad he does.  He and I agree that as powerful as questioning skills are, few people spend as much time thinking about getting better at asking questions.

In his newest book, The Book of Beautiful Questions, Berger talks about how we can ask better questions in some specific areas:

  • For better decision-making
  • For sparking creativity
  • For connecting with others
  • For leadership

Beyond that, he helps the reader think about leading a more inquiring life. Rather than a list of questions (some of those books exist), he helps you think about situations and how to time, sharpen, and use those questions effectively. That means the book is about the philosophy and not just the technique.

While I highly recommend this book, I also recommend his earlier book A More Beautiful Question too. Combined, these two books will give you a new perspective and the equivalent of an advanced degree in asking questions.

A final way to learn from Warren, his approach, and how to ask questions, you can listen to our conversation from The Remarkable Leadership Podcast.
