Experience = Learning Opportunity

In today’s Powerquotes Plus our members received this quotation from the author Vash Young:

“Any experience can be transformed into something of value.”

Most of us would agree with this thought, and yet, when the experience has been challenging, hard, difficult or painful, it is harder to believe or remember.

That is where we as leaders come in.

We can provide people with perspective.

We can provide people with the big picture.

We can provide people with the coaching and mentoring to successfully turn those experiences into learning.

Of course to do these things, we must model the behaviors ourselves.

We must value the learning opportunities.

We must search for the application and lessons.

We must seek out the executive coaching and mentoring we need to give us the perspective that we can provide to others.

So experience does equal learning opportunity.  But we can, as leaders, through our example and expectation help people transform opportunity into reality.

The actions I suggested to my readers of Powerquotes, I will suggest to you as well.  Think about these through your lens of leadership

1. Take time to reflect on your past experiences, especially those you don’t feel you have gained anything from.
2. Expectantly look for the value and search for lessons.
3. See those experiences in a new more meaningful .successful / positive light.
