The longer I live and the longer I lead, the truer I believe today’s quotation is. The lesson in it for you today may be personal or professional. Sam, “Mr. Walmart” Walton clearly believes it applies to everything.
Questions to Ponder
– How high are my expectations in different parts of my life?
– How have high expectations helped me in the past?
– What action does thinking about this quotation nudge me towards right now?
Action Step
1. Consider a part of your life (or a relationship) that you wish would be improved. Then apply today’s quotation to that situation.
My Thoughts
I am convinced of the importance of high expectations. When I raise my expectations of myself, my performance and results improve. (Click to Tweet.) When I raise my expectations of others, the same thing happens. When I raise my sights, I see opportunities I would likely have missed completely. I’ve given only one action step today for a reason – I want you to test this idea in your life.
In short – raise your expectations and raise your results
I’m not certain I agree with this post. Although I truly believe in having high expectations of myself, when expectations towards others are too high, one is often left feeling disappointed. The key is to ensure that the expectation is clearly communicated.
