Ever wanted to be able to access your stuff from any computer or digital device? Have you ever had your smartphone with you and wish you had that piece of info or wanted to remember the website you saved as a favorite on your computer?
Have you ever wanted a place to keep all sorts of different digital info (emails, notes, websites, photos and more) and be able to find it by searching in just one place?
If you answered yes to anyone of those questions, Evernote might be your solution. According to their website, Evernote is a way to:
“Remember everything” (I like THAT idea)
“Capture everything” (ideas, things you hear, things you read and much more)
“Access anywhere” (it works with basically any digital device)
“Find things fast” (use keywords, tags and even printed and handwritten text inside images)
In short, it is pretty cool.
I am eliminating paper by scanning ton of things into the system (the free version allows so much uploading per month, for far more you can pay a nominal fee) —and if you use the right tools everything you scan becomes completely searchable. I’m sending emails there (for a more robust search than in Outlook). I’m saving webpages there (because it is far more effective than a favorite for anything that I’m researching. Plus, when I save to Evernote, I can search for the information on the pages. I’m sending pictures to it from my cell phone of flipcharts, meeting notes, pictures and anything I want to be able to search for easily and find quickly.
The more I use it, the more helpful it becomes, and the more I use it the more productive I become. To me, this will be one of the most important productivity tools in my arsenal for the foreseeable future.
Check it out — perhaps it will become the same for you.
