One of my mentors, Zig Ziglar, has a well-known story that I refer to as his “Vacation Story”. In this story, he says that the day that people are most productive is the day before they go on vacation. And that’s for one pretty big reason:

Because they have a DEADLINE.

They need to get on a plane. They have to kennel the dogs. They must stop their mail. They have…DEADLINES.

Deadlines are extremely powerful to our success and today I’m sharing three very good reasons why.

  1. Thank you for the podcast, I’m glad this topic has been touched upon! I do believe that some amount of stress – even though that mostly the stress itself is considered to be a negative phenomenon – has a vastly positive influence on one’s productivity. And this is why it is quite beneficial to let your subordinates to take a vacation period. After all, it makes the whole business flourish, doesn’t it?

    Cheers!
