Recently, my wife, Lori and I were on the beach (specifically in the Outer Banks of North Carolina), and one of the things that we did was occasionally pick up a shell. It appeared that everywhere we walked, there were shells. I noticed that after you picked up a shell and the water washed in two or three times, there were more shells.
It’s like there are always more shells. Shells on the beach are abundant and the idea of abundance is probably kind of obvious on the beach. In fact, sand is one of the things people often talk about. There are so many grains of sand, you can pick them up and never miss them. You can take some water out of the ocean and never miss it.
And so we often think of sand and water as things that sort of prove abundance. And certainly on our trip, there was even an abundance of sun. So while it might be obvious or easy to think about abundance on the beach while you’re on vacation, I want us to think about abundance in the rest of our lives. And the question is, do you see abundance around you in the kind of ways that I just described when I was on the beach?
